SUMMARY:Schallfeld Ensemble: Text im Klang #5
DESCRIPTION:[:es] \nText im Klang #5\nPremieres of impuls composition commissions & Reading\n\nPROGRAM: \nAlexander Bauer New work for bass clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, cello\, electronics (2022\, world premiere) \nVíctor Morató Ribera New work for clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, cello (2022\, world premiere) \nSinan Samanlı New work for clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, electronics (2022\, world premiere) \nManuel Zwerger New work for clarinet\, cello\, percussion\, ad hoc performer (2022\, world premiere) \n  \nFerdinand Schmatz text & reading: das gehörte feuer. orphische skizzen (2016) \n  \nEnsemble Schallfeld \nSzilárd Benes clarinet\, bass clarinet\nMirko Jevtović accordion\nManuel Clemente percussion\nMyriam García cello\nDavide Gagliardi electronics \n  \n„Text im Klang” is already looking forward to its 5th edition this year. From the very beginning\, the project has seen itself as a laboratory\, where medial interlacings with a focal point on impulses are put into practice. In specific\, literary texts\, as well as the active exchange between composer and the author\, hereby provide the initial impulses for new compositions. The intention of the project does not pursue a classical setting such as words to music\, nor a simple translation of the words with voices\, nor tonal representations of the texts – what is called for is rather texts functioning as movens with their\, for example\, rhythmic and syntactic qualities\, in its tonal coloration\, its timbre\, in its atmospheric or thematic density\, as semantic abutment\, … \nThe experimental setup of „Text im Klang” has always been slightly modified throughout the years: in 2014 and 2016\, texts by various Austrian authors served the composers in various pairings as a source of inspiration; in the performances\, music and text were sometimes intertwined\, the latter read by actors or the authors themselves\, sometimes being integrated directly in the composition itself live or f.e. as an edited or processed recording. In 2018 in turn\, the focus for all composers was put on one specific short text\, and in 2020\, both text and music were created from scratch on a jointly developed theme. \nLike in former years\, with Ensemble Schallfeld also the musicians of course play an important role in the project\, being included in the process from the very beginning and standing in close connection especially with the composers for the realisation of their new works. Throughout the different editions\, Ensemble Schallfeld has hereby presented itself in various line-ups. \nFor 2022\, impuls has been able to interest Ferdinand Schmatz for the project\, whose „das gehörte feuer. orphische skizzen“ (2016) not only thematically and in terms of sound language offers an ideal starting point for four new compositions commissioned by impuls. The world premieres and the reading is presented in a dramaturgically developed evening on November 5th\, which concludes the following day\, with an open brunch\, including reflections on the overall process of the project and a discussion with the audience on their impressions. \n  \nText im Klang #5\n6.11.2022\, 10.00-13.00\nDiscourse : Open Brunch \nStatements by and discussion with the involved author\, composers and interpreters \n    [:en] \nText im Klang #5\nPremieres of impuls composition commissions & Reading\n  \nPROGRAM: \nAlexander Bauer New work for bass clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, cello\, electronics (2022\, world premiere) \nVíctor Morató Ribera New work for clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, cello (2022\, world premiere) \nSinan Samanlı New work for clarinet\, accordion\, percussion\, electronics (2022\, world premiere) \nManuel Zwerger New work for clarinet\, cello\, percussion\, ad hoc performer (2022\, world premiere) \n  \nFerdinand Schmatz text & reading: das gehörte feuer. orphische skizzen (2016) \n  \nEnsemble Schallfeld \nSzilárd Benes clarinet\, bass clarinet\nMirko Jevtović accordion\nManuel Clemente percussion\nMyriam García cello\nDavide Gagliardi electronics \n  \n„Text im Klang” is already looking forward to its 5th edition this year. SUMMARY:Debris - Schallfeld Ensemble
\nPROGRAMM \nCathy van Eck: Empty Chairs (ÖEA)\nAndres Gutiérrez: Monolito B (ÖEA)\nDmitri Kourliandsky: Punctuation Marks\nHannes Kerschbaumer: pedra-debris Expanded version II Salvatore Sciarrino: Codex Purpureus \nPatricia Alessandrini: Ada’s Song (ÖEA) \nSoprano: Kaoko Amano

SUMMARY:Ariadne - Schallfeld Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:ARIADNE\nmonodrama-installationfor voice\, five performers\, sound objects and electronics\n\nlibretto by Daniele Bellomi \nmusic by Maurizio Azzan \n  \n\nCommissioned by Schallfeld Ensemble\, financed by the    \n \n  \nTheseus isn’t cruel because he leaves Ariadne. \n[…]\nNo\, Theseus is cruel because he leaves Ariadne in the island of Naxos. \n[…] \nJust a beach lashed by thundering waves\, \nan abstract place where only the seaweed moves. \nIt is the island where no one lives\, \nthe place where obsession turns round \nand round on itself\, with no way out. A constant \nflaunting of death. This is a place of the soul. \n(R. Calasso\, The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony) \n  \nAriadne is a story of absence ad abandon. A woman marooned on a desert island tries to reassemble the pieces of her life\, marred by the abuses of men who egoistically took her\, used her and then disposed of her or carried her away without any regard\, treating her as a mere object. Fragmented memories emerge out of a dense fog where different versions of the myth blur together\, although the only constant is Ariadne’s unheard voice beneath the gods careless eyes. The protagonist\, as a final effort to escape her condition\, attempts to find her true self again\, in order to retrace a truth that in spite of all other versions might lead her to the end of her sufferings. \nAriadne is a monodrama for voice\, spatialized instruments and electronics\, thought of as a sort of immersive installation\, which starts even before the entering of the audience in the hall\, thus making so that the space of the performance\, instruments\, voice and public itself become all an active participant of the setup\, almost symbolically. From space\, which widens all the way to the foyer and its clatter\, to the piano\, which echoes the processed voice and its dialogue with the rest of the instruments\, scattered across the hall like rocks in the sea\, up to the public\, at once water that surrounds Ariadne and careless eyes of the gods that observe her pain. \nThe very same moment in which the audience enters the hall\, music starts to gradually take shape\, transforming the background noises in sound through live electronics in a process that blurs the boundaries between performance and audience by making the latter an active element of the setup. \n\n
